Friends and Family of OBCM,
Our annual gathering for the Okoboji Bible Conference is a rhythm of faith and family for many every summer. The global pandemic and corresponding government, state and local responses have brought our annual gathering into question this August.
I wanted to give you an update on our plans relating to holding Conference 2020. The Board of Directors met this past Saturday (April 25th) by Zoom for our annual spring meeting and decisions toward Conference. Below is an update relating to Conference.
- We are currently planning toward holding Conference 2020 in our usual format. We feel it is to early to make a decision for August.
- We will decide and communicate on June 1st whether or not to hold Conference 2020 in our usual format. June 1st is 60 days from the beginning of Conference. We believe the next month will give us a better idea of what the social and travel landscape will look like in August. We believe that 60 days is the closest to Conference that we can make the decision and still be prepared on campus; yet far enough out for individuals and families to adjust their calendars and travel schedules.
- If we need to cancel Conference, in our usual format, we will have a Conference presence digitally to connect us all together in worship and learning.
There are many factors that will go into determining whether or not to hold Conference: CDC guidelines, government regulations and prudence for the health and safety of our entire Conference family top the list.
I have currently put on hold printing and mailing our Conference programs until the decision on June 1st. Until then you can find our current Conference schedule HERE or watch the Conference preview video HERE.
There is no shortage of desire to gather in August! The Conference preview on Friday night made us long for our worshipful and joyful summer gathering. If you missed the preview event video you can watch the entire event HERE.
I will continue to keep you informed. We would value your prayers for wisdom, guidance and unity around the best decision for Conference 2020. We know that the world is changing but God is not. Appreciate you all.
With Eyes of Faith,
Jon Pausley, Executive Director
